My wife have a birth certificate from the muncipality. The birth was registered soon after she was born and her parents named her before registration so there are no issues as far as late registration or "no name" is concerned. The only concern I have is that the birth certificate mentions only the first names of her and her mother although her father's full name is mentioned. Will this be a problem. The muncipalities in India register the birth in this manner, their explanation being that a child's full name is his/her first name followed by the father's full name. Similarly a married woman's full name is her first name followed by the husband's full name. I know this is not necessarily true in the USA. So I was wondering if this might be a problem.
Is there anyone in this forum who had a similar situation and their certificate worked?
Any insight on this will be greatly appreciated.

She was detained for five hours but not strip searched. Understandably she was upset by it."
Wow. She was upset because she was not strip searched? :D

Hi,
This is regarding my H1B VISA application. I came to US in 2007 as a student of MBA and was working with my employer since then on CPT. My H1B petition was filed under Student Quota in Apr 2009 and was approved. I am going to India for my H1 stamping when I got I-129 from my employer. My highest education mentioned by my employer is MS - Computer Science from the University, while I pursued MBA - Management. Following are my questions:
Is it OK to go for H1B stamping with this I-129?
What are the possible options to correct it?
Will this be a problem for my Green Card processing?
Please let me know if any further details are required from my side.

Is it Infopass or for approval of your 485?
Your public profile is not correct, please update it.
All the dates are 01/01/2005
Good luck.
Attended 485 Interview yesterday, everything went fine, the office told me that they need 120 days to review the file and will inform the decision after that. For me it looks like he basically collected all the documentation from me and will forward them to the Supervisor.

Here is a memo from one of the law firms, I found on the net.
http://www.michaelpiston.net/documents/m/changing%20employer%20after%20I-485%20is%20approved.pdf
After digging thro' forums it seems everyone talks about having the "intention" of staying with the Employer after GC.
Here's my question.
- Should the "intention" be on the day of filing 485 or the day you get GC ? (a date in future that no one can predict).
If the "intention" has to be at the time of 485 filing then, after 180 days of filing 485 one should be able to change employers, irrespective of the case being approved or NOT.
thoughts/comments ??
Logically speaking it should be while filing the petition not while getting the GC approved. All in all you should portray an intention of joining in your activities through your GC process. However, if your position warrants a shift and you can justify it, I guess you are good to go.

Immigration laws are a federal mandate. It does not matter where your lawyer is based...........
Try to get a good lawyer. Where they are located should never be a consideration.

I recently got my gc. Is there anything I need to do to initiate my Citizenship process ?
Thanks,

After 4.5 years, you can file for Naturalization. You may want to keep a tab on which companies you worked for, period, pay etc starting from the day you entered in USA, keep copies of all previous W2 in safe place. Also, prepare a spreadsheet of when you were out of the country starting from the day you entered here. All the above will be required while filling up forms for naturalization.
Visit other forums/threads to see what is required and prepare for it. you have long time to go though.
Good luck.

Yes, if it's the same company - I think your employer just needs to file an amendment. I would suggest you consult with your employer's lawyer to see if an amended petition is even required in your case.

The General rule is You are eligible for H1B extn if the following conditions are met
a) Labor applied on your behalf atleast 1 yr prior to maxout date. You will be eligible for 1 yr extensions
b) Labor and I-140 approved in that case it will be 3 yrs extensions
Now I was in similar situation where in i applied for labor in 6th yr, Labor got cleared in 2 months, I-140 got cleared in 2.5 months so now i am eligible for 3 yr extn.
These days Labor certifications are taking a bit longer time (Atlanta is the only place they are doing it ) So it may take more time. Also one another thing needs to be considered is if there is any RFE then it takes longer.( Few cases pending beyond a year)
Do a research on various RFE and do your paperwork in much more details you will probably end up without any RFE on your case
