I looked at converting to RIR but there seems to be no point in changing. There is no guarantee that an RIR application will be processed before an TR. Also, they are picking up applications in random order and not FIFO. So, I decided against the conversion.

forgot.. another nice feature of Painter 6.0 at least and I assume of 7.0. It will use any Photoshop plugins. Likewise it will import and export to Photoshop's psd format. I really believe that the programs are both good and are fated to be used together.
for instance.. the magic wand tool in painter does not even come close to the one in Photoshop.

I suspect there may be a backdoor to it
I don't think so....let me explain what happened when I moved from one state to another.
When I was in the state of Washington, they did not ask me for any document like H1 etc. This was 3 years ago. When I moved to PA (mid 2005)though, the DMV asked me for my H1 doc. The date of expiry was alright, but they had other problems.
Since I work for a consultancy firm based in NYC (and the client was in PA), they were not ready to even give me a license (since my employer was based in NY). I literally had to fight with the DMV manager to get my license. And yeah, he asked my employer to provide me a letter that said that I would be based in PA for next 3 years and what my income is (god knows what that has to do with my license)
I was fortunate that my consultancy firm was considerate and finally gave that letter to me even though the contract was initally only for 3 months. If they would not have given such a letter I would not have got a PA license and might have to go to NY to get a license from there!
But the DMV manager did explain to me that this was part of new regulations being implemented since last couple of years.
I have been through this and had to go to the DMV three times before I finally got my license.
And I endured all this while my H1 is still valid for a few years. Imagine the above if my H1 was valid for less than 1 year?
Why are we going through such a painful experience in spite of being 100% legal????

How do I see or get LUD for I140 ? Mine was approved in DEC, 2006. Applied 485 in August 2nd week. Will I also get LUD?
sign up on uscis.gov, add you case number to profile, and you can see LUD (its one of the columns)

Pathetic - Back in India (and the Indian Consulates here in the US) - they play with our paper-work - right from when I remember - it's been one story after another...it's really frustrating.

My friend is going back to India next month. He filed for 485 in Aug 2007, PD April 2003 EB3 India. Is there a way to continue the Green Card process while he is in India ?. Is there an option where the employer can state that the employee is on temporary transfer to a different country and not loose the current Green Card application ?. Greatly appreciate any thoughts or insights.

the more readily reachable boxes are filled with later PDs with a few 2004-5 PDs. The older PD applications are in boxes in storage area. Sounds brutal to those with earlier PDs, but no other rational explanation is forthcoming. This will all work out OK, if they have an accurate estimate of both the pending cases and available GC numbers.
To top it all there is total disconnect between TSC and NSC.

I sumited my wife's & my I140 and I485 together in this July 2nd, 2007. I already got receipt and the requesting for fingerprinting. If i file a divorce now does it going to have any effect on my processing?

My brother moved jobs early last year. He filed AC21 and got an RFE immediately.
The move was parallel in job function and the pay was good.

Why do we need a transit visa if we are just passing by the airport( I know UK has this rule). Can someone please share if we really need the transit visa. I am travelling on next week to Chennai via Frankfurt.
If you have a valid (unexpired) US visa and traveling, to OR from US, to any country via Germany, then you DON'T need a transit Visa.
If you are traveling on AP, you need transit visa via Germany.

I have a similar question.
I have approved I-140 using which I have received 7th year H1 extension for 3 years.
I am planning to change my job now. I understand that when my new employer files H1 Transfer they would need an approved I 140 from the previous employer to request 3 year extension. However, my previous employer is not giving me the I 140 approval notice. However, I have the I 140 receipt notice. Can I use that for my H1 extension/transfer with new employer.
