What you can do is ask for the case #. Then you can check the status online (it will basically tell you when it was rec'd). After that just sit back and wait for the next 4 months or so. Once I140 is approved ask the lawyer for a copy of the approval notice. This is critical if you ever need to move companies.

You can stay in the US until the decision is made on your H1B application, and you can legally work (for the same employer) for up to 240 days from your application date if the case is in pending state.
Regarding DL renewal, it really depends on the DMV you go to and the knowledge of employees there, but some DMVs, especially in locations like NJ, are aware of this situation and extend the DL by 90 days based on your original I-129 receipt notice.
And in case if your h-1b application gets denied and you do not have EAD to fall back to, then you are supposed to apply for your legal status (H1 transfer (** not sure about this) or other visa categories) within 10 days of your denial notice or leave the country.
As long as you are legally here (all the time) and are working in your stated field, you shouldn't have any problem.

Hi,
I am currently working on a fulltime H1B and my GC process is going on with second stage (I140) in progress. Now my old employer wants me to work parttime for them which I agreed upon but this is a possibility only if I have a parttime H1B applied w.r.t old employer which I am thinking to apply for it and work parttime. But my question here is does this effect my GC processing? If it is what are the effects? Please reply me back. Thanks a lot.

Hi,
I am as well on the same boat. My H1 is getting expired on Sep 2010. My Company is ready to file a GC. But can't convince them to file in EB2 category. Also looking at the backlogs don't know if its the good time to start the GC process.
Can anyone put some light to this sitaution.

This is exactly the problem. There are a lot of house straight head Republican's who won't give up their anti-immigration position. Because of their existence, anything on this issue that wants to pass need Democrats vote.

Yes. This can be done when applying for I-485. I don't know why, but couple of lawyers I spoke with, recommended this route.

Iam on L2 and working on my EAD which is expiring on april 29 th 2011.
I have applied for H1 in the 2010 quota but due to my employers mistake i got a rejection on that.
we are trying to reappeal to USCIS but iam not sure if its going to work.
Suppose i have a project and apply again for 2011 quota , can i still continue working even if my EAD expires.
They say that we actually move to H1 on October , so if i apply before end of April through premium processing and get an approval notice before October can i continue working or start work right away or do i have to wait till October.
Is there a possibility to start working immediately as soon as my H1 gets approved or do we have to wait until October in any case.

You have to wait until 1st October. Even though your H1 gets approved faster with Premium Processing, your start date is still 1st October. You will have to continue to maintain your current immigration status (L2) till Sep 30th. On October 1st, your status will automatically change to H1 and L2 becomes invalid.
Since you get the benefit of EAD with L2, you can renew your EAD and keep working till Sep 30th. Your EAD along with your L2 will become invalid automatically on 1st October since your H1 (if approved) will take effect. (Assuming your employer files a H1 Change of Status petition and not a H1 Consular processing petition)

No, Expression Blend cannot be used to create content for mobile devices. Blend only creates WPF and Silverlight applications - both of which do not run in a mobile device :)
