So effectively Montgomery is the center point and as suggested by cooldude** is a good meeting place.
If the meet is convened in Birmingham then it is 260 miles one way distance for Mobile effectively dissuading any Mobile members from active participation.
Your take on the meeting place guys.

He asks us to use internet to tell him what our problems are and also allows us to vote. Though we are not Citizens. He is not asking us to register using SSN or anything and filtering only Citizens.. Its open to all.. Go and tell your problem and also DO vote on relevant topics.
Since its related to economy, related your GC problem to a solution on how you can make a difference to economy by jobs and by buying houses.. Please do it.

I am in this case, and I am on my OPT in the US. If I have the I-794B now, and will be valid Oct 1, 2008, can I change my employer and transfer H1-B? Or I have to activate it first. Thanks a lot!
your employer while applying the h1b , they did not applied for change of status to h1b. they just applied for h1b only. so you did not got the i-94.
so until you out of the country and get it stamped h1b and re-enter you h1b will not be activated.
since you have your f1 valid until december...you can go for stamping before that date or you can also amend h1b for change of status thru your employer also.

It is important to note that IO vetting the AC21 - I-485 Application for approval HAS TO consider that EXPERIENCE and PERFORMANCE can comand greater salaries in the free job market!!!! This is VERY important since there is a hugh time gap between LC and I-485 Approval especially for non ROW countries!!
USCIS should NOT be intervening when companies can provide higher salaries for same or similar jobs to QUALIFIED candidates.

A wife of one of my colleagues got her green card through marriage. They have now been married for over eight years and she simply visits at least once a year and on at least three occasions has only visited for a weekend.
This gives you a good idea how little time you have to be here without losing your permanent residency.
I also know of a research fellow who I used to work with. Has had his green card for almost twenty years and in that entire time has only visited for one conference each year and then for at most five days.
If you want to progress to become a citizen this sort of arrangement will not work obviously but if you simply want to retain your green card it would appear to be remarkably easy.

I spoke to my attorney office and they said that June 485 receipting is alsmost in the verge of completion and if they dedicate a person for this July early birds will receive receipt number in couple of weeks from now.

It is a mess.. The USCIS site says it will accept old versions of the forms (765 and 131), and they have clearly stated in their FAQs that applicants who were eligible to file under the July bulletin can file 765 and 131 using the previous versions of the forms and at old fees ($ 180 and $ 170). However, the previous versions of the forms are not available at the USCIS website.. I am filling up my forms today, and I had to dig up the old forms on Google. (Not that the new forms are any different in the information to be filled.. I just wanted to make sure the checks and mailing addresses are correct as per the old forms). Anyway, even in the old forms, for I-765, it says, if say you are from PA, send the forms to TX. In the 485 form (previous version), it says if you are EB, mail it to NE. Switch back (OK, now we are confused) back to I-765 and somewhere at the bottom, it says, in effect "Dash it all! If you've already filed I-485, just send the form to the service center to which you sent your I-485!"
So I'm planning to send it to NE service center tomorrow.. If it is all a big mistake, I'm hoping someone will let me know before tomorrow afternoon..

The visas will first flow from top to bottom in Family Based. Wouldn't all the categories have to be current before any visas flow to Employment based? I read somewhere that the employment based backlog size is 800,000 applications. :confused: Let's say even if there is a small number of visa flow from Family Based to Employment Based, how can a small number of visa flow from Family Based to employment based backlog be sufficient to approve 800,000 applications?

No they are NOT if you are talking about immigration!They are highly passionate and vocal in support for their own country and its leader (well are we???). Only reason they are enjoying immigration benfits is due to the US policy towards Cuba and its regime.
Well I do agree with you that we should avoid highlighting such issues and channelize our time and efforts towards the betterment of our own cause.

For the second I-140, He should have applied asking for the previous Priority date. I am not sure about this, but if there is a way to get previous Priority date of Dec-2002 on the EB2 (NEW I-140). Then s/he would be current (assuming India, China).

I am planning to file a for a fresh EAD or new EAD.
I had filed 485 on 08/06/2007.
Now I have the following questions:
1) I am confused about the filing fee for EAD. Some say Filing fee is dependent on your 485 filign date.
